Old Hazlegrovians reunite to celebrate 75 years of Hazlegrove

On Saturday, the School hosted 13 Old Hazlegrovians and their partners for a reunion lunch to celebrate the School turning 75.

We were lucky enough that some of the very first pupils at Hazlegrove were able to attend. We were also joined by several ex-teachers (much to the delight of both our current pupils and staff).  Ably assisted by Year 7 tour guides, the Old Hazlegrovians toured the school – and whilst much of the School has changed beyond recognition, there are still many areas that remain untouched with areas such as the Aragon Room, the Library, the Headmaster’s Office and even dorm rooms bringing memories flooding back.

Hazlegrove are proud that so many of its alumni remember their time at the School with such warmth and affection and we hope to be able to run many more of these events in the future.  Emilie Head, King's Bruton Development office and Alumni relations, said "The best part of my job is meeting Old Hazlegrovians and hearing about their time at School.  There are often very funny stories of high jinx, but what always comes through loud and clear is the role that Hazlegrove has had in their life.  As a mother of two Old Hazlegrovians, I find this immensely heart-warming."

Our catering team did the School proud with a lovely lunch served in the library allowing everyone to catch up and reminisce about days gone by. “Very different from the dry gristle and rice pudding that was served during our time” one Old Hazlegrovian commented!
